Fantasy Playoff
After discussing what I would like to see happen to college football, I would now like to talk about what I think would have happened if a playoff system was installed this year. If I was in charge, what I would do is take the top ten teams in the nation and exclude them from the bowl series. The remainding teams would then be voted on to participate in the bowl games so that their schools get some publicity and that the tradition of the bowl games can be continued. I think that this would reward teams for a good season and would give the teams something to hang their hat on at the end of the season. Now, with the top ten teams, I would give the top six teams a bye in round one, and the bottom four teams would have a playoff round. This would narrow it down to eight teams competeing for a national championship. Now, after round one, I would have the number one seed play the new number eight seed and so forth. I think that this would give everyone a fair shot at a national title and like I stated before, this would allow for teams like TCU who was ranked three, I fair shot at winning a title. Now, with years past standings, I would predict it like this. 1. Auburn vs. 8.Boise State, 2. Oregon vs. 7. Alabama, 3. TCU vs. 6. Oklahoma and 4. Stanford vs. 5. Ohio State. I think the winners of these games would be 1. Auburn, 2. Oregon, 3. TCU and 5. Ohio State. After this, I think Oregon would beat Ohio State and Oregon would beat TCU. In the national championship, I still think Auburn would walk away with the title. Even though I still think Auburn was the best team in the Nation, I just think that a playoff systems gives team a more fair shot at claiming their title. I think that it would allow for team to prove what they have and show the world that they deserve the national championship for beating the top teams in the nation.
BCS System
Over the years in college football, every year their are discussions about changing the structure of the BCS system. College football is broken down into two categories, AQ and Non- AQ schools. AQ stands for Automatic Qualifiers and Non-AQ stands for Non Automatic Qualifiers. This means that for the AQ schools that win over six games, they are guranteed a bowl game unless you played more than one division 1AA school. For the non-AQ schools, the only way they are able to play in a bowl game is if they are voted in based on their BCS ranking. The debate comes in to play when these non-AQ schools have terrific seasons, and get no recognition for them. For the last five or six years, Boise State and TCU have had some of the best college football programs in the nation and have rarely lost a game. The problem is that in the past, these non-AQ schools have gone undefeated in their seasons and don't get a chance to play for a national championship and instead their spot is given to a team who might have a loss but are an AQ school and are considered to have played a tougher schedule. People all say that these non-AQ schools play weaker teams and that they could not compete with the AQ schools. This theory was proven wrong this year when TCU beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl giving them the victory over an AQ school. Also, Boise State beat Viringia Tech in the beginning of the season which is also a very well known AQ school with tremendous history. Both of these schools proved that the non-AQ schools can compete with anyone and that they deserve a shot to compete in a National Championship if they record is deserving of it. This proves that something must be done with the BCS system. Too often do teams that are non-Aq schools go unrecognized for theirs tremendous accomplishments. Personally, I would like to see some sort of a play of system be installed in college football. I think that this would give everyone a fair shot and would make college football an even better product.

Heisman Trophy
The Heisman Trophy was created in 1935 and designed to be given to the Most Outstanding College Football Player decided by members of the Downtown Athletic Club. The trophy itself was created by sculptor, Frank Eliscu who was also a National Academy Prize Winner. He sculpted the trophy after Ed Smith, who was one of the players on the 1934 New York University Team. The trophy was later approved by the committee and was formed into a bronze trophy. The statue is 14” long and 13.1/2 high and weighs 25lbs. The first award recipient ever of the Heisman Trophy was Jay Berwanger who played for Chicago and put up incredible numbers in 23 games. In 1936, a football legend in John W. Heisman died and the committee decided to name the trophy after him in remembrance for all that he did for the game of football. In 1968, the committee also decided to award two trophies each year. One would go to the winner himself and the other would go to the college or university he attended.
Over the years, many great players have been honored by receiving this prestigious award. Some that have won it are Roger Staubach from Navy in 1960, O.J. Simpson from USC in 1968, Earl Campbell from Texas in 1977, and Marcus Allen from USC in 1981. All four of these men went on to having terrific careers in the NFL as well. Even more recently, some of the greats who have won the award are Ricky Williams from Texas in 1998, Chris Weinke from Florida State in 2000, Matt Leinart from USC in 2004 and Tim Tebow from Florida in 2007. All of these men had put up numbers that were never seen before and really took college football to the next level.
In the 2010 Heisman race, the four Finalists were Quarterback Cam Newton from Auburn, Quarterback Kellen Moore from Boise State, Quarterback Andrew Luck from Stanford and Running Back LaMichael James from Oregon. Cam Newton came away with the award after throwing for 2,500 yards and rushing for over 1,000 yards. His 6’6”, 250 lb. Frame made him one of the most versatile players of all time in College Football History.

Super Bowl Champs
This year there are eight teams left in the NFL playoffs. The matchups for this weekend are Green Bay vs. Atlanta, New England vs. New York, Seattle vs. Chicago and Pittsburgh vs. Baltimore. Each game has its own suspense but I especially look forward to watching the Pittsburgh game and the New England game. Since the season has started, I have swayed back and forth in deciding who I think will make it to the Super Bowl and win it this year. The year started with me once again having high hopes for the bills. But like usual, it was time for me to get over that after week 3. Up to just recently, I liked the way that Philadelphia had been playing and really thought that they could make a deep run and win the entire thing. But, after losing in the first round, I was forced to make new predictions. Being in the same division as New England, I have seen how competitive they really are and I think that they are going to be tough to beat. With that being said, I also think that Pittsburgh and Baltimore have what it takes to win it all. In the NFC, I think it will either be Green Bay or Atlanta. Atlanta has been solid all year but they have to face a Green Bay team that is heated up and playing great football. I predict the upset and see the Green Bay Packers playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl. Although I am a huge Aaron Rodgers fan, I think that the Pack will meet its match when the face up against Big Ben and the rest of the Steelers. Pittsburgh has experience and I just think that Big Ben will always keep his team in the game. I predict that the Pittsburgh Steelers will be the Super Bowl Champs this year.

super bowl sunday
Super bowl Sunday may just be my second favorite day of the year behind Christmas. All the anticipation and suspense that has been brewing all season is finally about to be released. I wake up in the morning and usually turn on the television right away to see what ESPN has to say about the game. Usually, all day the reporters have coverage on the game and usually they put together an interesting story about the history of the teams and players. Around 11ish, I start to mosey out of bed and start getting dressed. Every year, we host a party at our house for the super bowl so we usually have to a lot of stuff to get ready before everyone comes over. I am usually in charge of shoveling the driveway, porch and walk way up to the house so nobody has to barge through the snow to get through the front door. Around 1 o clock, a lot of the guys start to show up and we all play cards. This is a nice way to get everyone together to get us riled up for the game. Also, we usually get the first taste of all the snacks that my mom has put out. During this time, we often arrange Super Bowl pools and everyone talks about the game. Around 5 o clock, everyone starts to show up and we usually get a pizza for everyone. When the game starts, everyone gathers around and pays close attention. I usually stuff my face throughout the entire game and I’m constantly checking my pools to see if I am winning. Sometimes, I take a walk down to my neighbor’s house and visit them while they have a separate party going on. Super bowl Sunday is one of my favorite days and I love it.

Social Networking
Social Networking has impacted in me in many ways. First of all, one positive of social networking is that I am always connected to anyone. By a touch of a button, I can instantly see what all of my friends are doing. I am always connected with everyone and I am only a text message away from communicating. Plus, I always have someone to talk to whenever I go online. Another positive effect of social networking for me is that I am always able to stay in touch with colleges and coaches through email. This is beneficial for me because it makes it easy for my questions to get answered, and for the coach to send information to me. Also, it makes it easy for me to arrange visits and set up scheduled events. One negative of social networking is that I am never alone it seems. Especially in high school, drama is always swarming on the online networking sights and overtakes everything else these sites are good for. You will log on to facebook and see nothing but fights and depressed people complaining about how bad their lives are because their parents wouldn’t let them go out or because they couldn’t find a ride. I often have to log of quickly because some of the stuff that people complain about are so ridiculous that I just simply can’t take it. Also, where the usage of cell phones these days, u will get home from school and think that you have the rest of the evening to relax until your phone goes off and it’s a text from someone asking about something that happened in school. And just like that, you are swarmed with drama once again. In this day in age, social networking has it’s perks but it also has it’s negatives.

Christmas Vacation
This year, I had an excellent time over the holidays spending time with my family and hanging out with my friends. On Christmas Eve, I went shopping in the morning to pick up a few last minute gifts. Then, at three, we headed down to my grandmas and met up with all of my aunts and uncles on my mother’s side. We had a wonderful dinner and then opened our gifts. I got a duffel bag and some clothes and also a video game. It was great to see the smiles on everyone’s faces and it felt great to be with everyone. After this, we stopped at home quickly and then went right over to my uncle’s house on my dad’s side of the family. We got there around seven thirty and spent a couple of hours there. It was nice to see everyone from that side of the family and was nice to catch up with them. Me and my cousins also played hockey in the basement for a little while which has turned into a tradition for us. On Christmas day, we woke up early and opened gifts at our house. Surprisingly, the first gift we walked in to was a new baby puppy. Me and my brother were both shocked to see this. One of my other gifts I got was a laptop. I really needed one of these for college and was glad I finally got one. That night, my mom’s side of the family came over for dinner and we watched the basketball games on TV. For New Years, my parents had their friends over and it was a lot of fun. I also went to my girlfriend’s house later and enjoyed the new year with her and my friends. It was a great vacation and I had a lot of fun.
